Srinagar, Apr 24: The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Wednesday sacked an assistant of erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council, following serious allegations of misconduct.
As per the official communication, the dismissal came after Fayaz Ahmad Bhat, a Watch and Ward Assistant of the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council was accused of receiving an illegal amount of Rs. 5 lakh from a person named Dilawar Manzoor, under the guise of securing a government job for him with the allegation led to a thorough inquiry into the matter.
It said that the inquiry, initiated after a memorandum was issued to Fayaz to respond to the charges brought against him, revealed damning evidence against him.
Despite submitting responses to the charge sheet, deemed unsatisfactory, the inquiry proceedings continued, it said adding that upon examination of the evidence and the inquiry report, the Competent Authority concluded that the charges against Fayaz were established beyond a reasonable doubt.
The findings of the inquiry painted a troubling picture, revealing that Fayaz had indeed accepted the illegal sum of money, thereby tarnishing the image and reputation of the institution.
Despite his denial, the evidence presented during the inquiry, including bank statements and witness testimonies, confirmed his involvement in the unlawful transaction, it added.
The communication said that despite facing trial in connection with another case, Fayaz was served a show cause notice regarding the proposed penalty of removal from service.
Following his response and subsequent examination by the Competent Authority, it was decided that the grave nature of the misconduct warranted the imposition of a major penalty – dismissal from services, it added.
As per the provisions of the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1956, Fayaz Ahmad Bhat has been dismissed from service, effectively disqualifying him from future employment, it added.
