Jammu, April 24: Director Agriculture Production and Farmer Welfare, Jammu, Arvinder Singh Reen, accompanied by a team of officers, recently concluded a two-day extensive tour of Udhampur district. The primary objective of this tour was to evaluate the progress of various Farmer Welfare Schemes and field activities being undertaken by the Department of Agriculture.
On the first day of the tour, Director Agriculture Jammu made a significant visit to the Chief Agriculture Office in Udhampur. Engaging in productive interactions with the CAO office staff and the field staff, discussions ranged from field issues to the review of projects under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP).
During the tour, Director Agriculture Jammu inspected several crucial facilities, including the Government Agriculture Engineering Workshop and the Mushroom Development Officer premises in Udhampur. These visits aimed to assess the infrastructure and efficiency of these establishments in supporting agricultural endeavors in the region.
Furthermore, Director Agriculture Jammu undertook an inspection of the Soil Testing Lab in Udhampur, reviewing equipment, procedures, and staff competence within the lab. He also visited the Hi-Tech polyhouse owned by Hansraj son of Kashmiru Ram in village Ballian Subdivision, Udhampur, to evaluate the progress of the polyhouse under the HADP.
Continuing on the second day, Director Agriculture conducted a review meeting with the staff at the Sub Divisional Agriculture Office in Ramnagar. The meeting included discussions and feedback on various Farmer Welfare Schemes, including HADP and social sector schemes like PMKISAN, PMFBY and KCC.
During the tour, Director Agriculture Jammu also inspected the IFS model unit under HADP situated in Marta village, Amroh zone, to assess its implementation and effectiveness in enhancing farmers’ livelihoods. He also visited the medicinal and aromatic farm in Incha, sub-division Ramnagar. The main focus was to inspect the medicinal and aromatic plants nursery developed in public sector under HADP.
