Seminar on ‘NariShakti’ held in Pattan

Pattan, Nov 05: A seminar on women empowerment  ‘Narishakti’ was conducted under the aegis of Headquarters Counter Insurgency Force (Kilo) on Saturday with an aim to create awareness amongst the girls to understand their role in building of society and ways to empower themselves to face modern day challenges.
It also aimed at educating them about various career options available along with necessary guidance to pursue them.
The seminar was attended by eminent personalities like Hina Shafi Bhat, Vice Chairperson of KVIB, Dr Sehrish Asgar, Deputy Commissioner of Baramulla and  Ishrat Tanki, Chairman of Firdous Educational institute amongst others. 
The event was attended by nearly 200 girls and faculty from various schools and colleges of Baramulla and Srinagar District.
Motivational talks were delivered by few young achievers. In addition, audience also had the opportunity of informal interaction with the speakers. 
Speaking on the occasion, Major General SS Slaria, General Officer Commanding of Counter Insurgency Force (Kilo) conveyed his compliments to all the participants and the gathering for celebrating women empowerment seminar Narishakti’ with vigour and gusto. He highlighted that sky is the limit for women especially when it comes to career and other professional domain.
The GOC urged the Kashmiri women to remove gender bias that they themselves might have faced and inspire and encourage the girls by providing equal opportunities in all their endeavours.
He concluded his talk by speaking on the relentless efforts by the Indian Army in empowering the women through various projects, which have furthered women empowerment by extending various vocational trainings to women in the North Kashmir.
The girls were greatly benefited by this workshop as they learnt about several career options which will empower them towards self-sustenance so that they can contribute in the society & nation building. Such seminars & workshops shall also be organised at different locations in future.
