India has emerged as the voice of the almost “voiceless group” of countries of the Global South and at the G20 forum and it is highlighting problems faced by the ‘not-so-prosperous’ countries, External Affairs Minister of State Meenakshi Lekhi said.
In an exclusive interview to ANI, Lekhi emphasised that India, which represents the Global South, is in the right position to engage in conversation with G20 nations and talk about the needs of the underdeveloped nations which are “very rich in resources.”
India has since the start of its current Presidency of the G20 focussed on putting forward concerns of the Global South- which is a term used to refer to the developing or least developed countries. Global South includes countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Oceania, except Australia and New Zealand.(ANI)
