To commemorate the huge contributions of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Rashtriya Ekta Diwas also known as National Unity Day was celebrated across the Union Territory of J&K.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police celebrated Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) across Jammu and Kashmir. The main function was held at Armed Police Complex Zewan. The parade was attended by the wing heads of the J&K Police and all other senior officers of different wings and CAPFs.
Outgoing DGP J&K, Shri Dilbag Singh who was the Chief Guest on the occasion administered oath to the officers and Jawans of J&K Police, CAPFs, Forest Protection Force, and Fire & Emergency Services. He then took the salute and inspected the parade which comprised of different contingents.
The outgoing DGP while speaking on the occasion said that on this day we reaffirm our resolve to work for the unity and integrity of the country. He said that on this day the whole country remembers the efforts and contribution of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the first Union Home Minister of the Country in uniting the Nation.
Contingents from J&K Armed Police, IRP, SSB, ITBP, CRPF, District Police, J&K Ladies Police, SDRF, Fire and Emergency Services took part in the colourful march past on the tunes of J&K Police Brass Band under the command of Parade Commander SSP Shri Liaquat Ali and Dy. Parade Commander SP Shri Sajad Ahmad.
Meanwhile, the day was also observed in all district, Unit and Wing headquarters of Jammu and Kashmir Police where concerned Police heads administered a unity oath to Jawans and officers at colourful functions.
