Jammu, Sept 07: Panun Kashmir, led by Dr. Ajay Chrungoo, issued a stark warning about the upcoming Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir during a press conference today at the Press Club in Jammu. The organization condemned the elections as a potential vehicle for the continued denial of the Kashmiri Hindu genocide, calling it a “Consolidation of Genocide.”
Dr. Chrungoo criticized the BJP-led government for failing to address the genocide suffered by the Kashmiri Hindu community and argued that the current electoral process is exacerbating the community’s marginalization. He highlighted that the elections might further exclude internally displaced Hindus, portraying their participation as a mere facade of democratic inclusion.
The organization alleged that the electoral process has turned into a mechanism for creating captive vote-banks, accusing the government of deceitful practices in voter enrolment and voting. Panun Kashmir’s leadership asserted that successive governments have betrayed the Kashmiri Hindu community by failing to acknowledge their suffering while claiming to support democracy.
Dr. Chrungoo also criticized both the BJP and Congress for their roles in perpetuating the denial of genocide and failing to address the community’s needs. He warned that the elections could be exploited by separatist forces to further their agenda, accusing the Indian government of naivety in believing that election participation equates to support for the nation and its Constitution.
Panun Kashmir reiterated that the Kashmiri Hindu community cannot support any political process that denies their genocide or consolidates their marginalization. The organization called for a genuine political process that addresses the historical injustices faced by the community and provides them with a fair opportunity to participate in the democratic process.
