Srinagar, Aug 21: G M Shaheen, Janata Dal-United (JDU) President for Jammu and Kashmir, met with the Union Tourism Minister, Gajender Singh Shekhawat in New Delhi on Wednesday.
During the meeting, Shaheen, according to a party statement issued here, discussed the pressing issue of tourist facilitators in Jammu & Kashmir and seeking support and assistance from the central government.
Shekhawat assured Shaheen that the government would give priority to the concerns of tourist facilitators and provide all possible support in the coming days, the statement said.
Senior party leaders Ishfaq Ahmad Bhat and Ishfaq Ahmad Rather accompanied Shaheen to the meeting.
Following the discussion, the JD(U) leader extended an invitation to the union minister to visit Kashmir after the upcoming elections in J&K.
“The meeting is seen as a positive step towards addressing the challenges faced by the tourism industry in Jammu & Kashmir, and the JDU party’s efforts to seek support from the central government for the region’s development,” the statement added.
