Srinagar, Aug 04: Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party Chief Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Sunday called for immediate compensation for those affected by the recent cloudburst in the Kangan area of Ganderbal district.
In a statement issued here, Bukhari emphasised the need for prompt action by the authorities to provide adequate assistance and compensation to the victims. “I urge the authorities to ensure adequate assistance and compensation for those who suffered losses due to the cloudburst that hit several areas of Kangan in the district of Ganderbal early this morning,” Bukhari said.
Fortunately, no casualties have been reported in this unfortunate incident. However, initial reports indicate that several buildings, including residential houses, have sustained significant damage due to the flash floods triggered by the cloudburst. In addition, heavy rainfall has caused extensive damage to paddy fields, and numerous vehicles have become trapped in the debris.
“In this hour of grief, the administration must ensure all necessary measures are taken to support the victims of this natural calamity,” Bukhari added. He stressed the importance of swift action to mitigate the impact on the affected families and restore normalcy in the region.
