Ramban, July 28: The Youth Congress has officially launched the “Chalo Panchayat” programme in Rajgarh to address public grievances and advocate for their resolution.
This initiative, led by Fairoz Khan, former Youth Congress Working President of J&K and National President of NSUI, is a major movement focusing on the needs and concerns of residents in the Rajgarh Block of District Ramban, a statement issued here said.
Key speakers at the launch event included Paraviz Wani, District President Congress Committee; Kuljeet Singh, Youth Congress Block President Rajgarh; Hukum Chand; Towheed Wani, Vice President Block Youth Congress Rajgarh; Vinod Balwal, Jammu University President NSUI; and Hilal.
Fairoz Khan said the programme’s goal to connect with youth, farmers, and the general public, aiming to cover all panchayats before the upcoming elections to gather and address residents’ concerns. He criticized the BJP-led government for neglecting rural issues and failing to meet the aspirations of the people in Rajgarh and Ramban.
During the meeting, Youth Congress workers were tasked with visiting villages in Rajgarh as part of the “Chalo Panchayat” programme. They aim to engage with rural youth, assess their experiences with job opportunities, and address issues like recruitment scams, statehood restoration, job rights, and land rights.
Parvaiz Wani, District President, District Congress Committee, highlighted the unfulfilled promises of the Modi government to the youth and emphasized the Youth Congress’s efforts to present a vision for Congress under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi. He also stressed the need for statehood restoration, job security, and land rights in Jammu and Kashmir.
Other speakers, including Hukum Chand and Kuljeet Singh, addressed local concerns such as the lack of medical staff in PHC Rajgarh, inadequate school infrastructure, high vehicle fares, and the need for road improvements. They also called for the establishment of a college in Rajgarh and criticized the opening of a wine shop in the area.
