Jammu, June 04: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta on Tuesday hailed the people’s “decisive rejection” of dynastic politics, as evidenced by the defeat of National Conference (NC) leader Omar Abdullah and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti.
In a statement, Gupta expressed his elation over the party’s significant victories in Jammu and Udhampur Lok Sabha constituencies.
“The electoral outcomes reflect the citizens’ desire for a break from the entrenched political dynasties that have historically dominated the Union Territory’s political arena,” he said. “The time has come for the dynastic leaders of Jammu and Kashmir to reconsider their political strategies, as the electorate has unequivocally rejected the notion of political entitlement based on family lineage.”
The senior BJP leader credited the party’s victory to the public’s preference for governance that “prioritises merit and performance over hereditary politics”. He lauded his party colleagues for their hard work and dedication, which he attributed to the electoral success.
