Srinagar, Apr 25: National Conference president Farooq Abdullah has voiced concerns about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s alleged attempts to sow division among people and stressed the opposition INDIA alliance’s commitment to rectifying what they perceive as wrongdoings during the Bharatiya Janata Party’s rule.
Speaking at a joint rally of NC and Congress after the National Conference’s candidate for Srinagar Constituency Agha Ruhullah filed nomination papers, Abdullah called for the independence of the Election Commission and judiciary to ensure fairness.
He accused PM Modi of endangering the Constitution and criticised his remarks in Rajasthan, where he allegedly undermined it.
“Prime Minister should serve all citizens regardless of religious, dietary or linguistic differences,” Abdullah said. He accused Modi of seeking to fragment the country along religious lines and praised the INDIA alliance for its efforts to preserve unity and uphold Dr Ambedkar’s constitution.
The former chief minister also expressed hope for a change in Delhi’s leadership and criticised the BJP’s attempts to control personal choices such as food and attire.
He mentioned the INDIA alliance’s determination to address Kashmir’s issues and condemned parties that he believes are aligned with the BJP.
