Srinagar, Jan 10: A weeklong entrepreneurship development programme on ‘Feeding and Nutritional Management of Dairy Cattle’ on Tuesday concluded at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST) Kashmir at Shuhama campus.
The training was conducted by SKUAST-K’s Division of Animal Nutrition, Faculty of Horticulture, under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Micro Small Medium Enterprises for the skill development of aspiring entrepreneurs and dairy farmers.
Dean FVSc & AH, Prof Mohammad Tufail Banday, who was the chief guest at the valedictory function, talked about the various opportunities in the dairy sector. He congratulated the organisers for conducting the relevant programme, which can help youth to find various employment opportunities in the dairy sector.
Head Division of Animal Nutrition Prof AM Ganai and other dignitaries were also present at the occasion. Assistant Professor, animal nutrition, Dr Gowher Gull, who was the coordinator of the training, gave a brief overview of the training. He said dairy experts and various officials delivered the talks and lectures and provided hands-on training to the trainees.
The participants were provided hands-on training about the formulation of concentrate mixtures, silage making, fortification of poor-quality straw and winter nutritional management of dairy animals. The function was concluded by a vote of thanks presented by Dr Yasir Afzal.
