Ganderbal, Sep 27: Tabia Jan, a well-known “Sqay” martial art player from Gundroshan of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district Tuesday secured 3rd position in a recent national-level competition of powerlifting that was held in Indira Gandhi Stadium Delhi on 2nd to 24 September this year.
Tabia Jan got “Bronze Medal” and she received a trophy and certificate much to the delight of her family members and well-wishers at Ganderbal.
Talking to Rising Kashmir Tabia Jan said she is currently studying in Government Degree College Sumbal and was having a lot of inclination towards the sports activities from her childhood.
She said from childhood I was a brilliant student in studies as well as in sports. I received preliminary education at Imamia Public School Dab, Ganderbal.
As a girl, I had to face a lot of problems, but I did not give up and to fulfill my dreams, I started taking martial arts training besides doing snow skiing courses.
Tabia said that she was never appreciated by anyone for this. Which proved to be a great barrier and hindrance for her sports career, but she never quit her mission and continued to take part in her favourite game with same determination and dedication, she told Rising Kashmir over phone.
She has brought laurels to the whole J&K and Ganderbal by winning a bronze medal in the national powerlifting championship organised by the National Sports Federation at Indira Gandhi stadium Delhi. She gives credits to her success to her coaches.
I also want to give credit for my success to my college administration that has helped me in every way possible, she said.
Meanwhile, District administration Ganderbal also congratulated her on her victory.
