YS&S deptt organises sports activities for senior citizens

Srinagar, May 10: Under Sports for Seniors initiative of the Department of Youth Services and Sports, hundreds of respected elders from different sports zones of all the 20 districts of J&K participated in different competitive sports and recreational activities on Wednesday.
 
Meanwhile while following the directions of Secretary to Government Youth Services and Sports and under the guidance of Director Youth Services and Sports, ‘Nature Walk 23’ an out of box initiative of making youth visit different historically important and naturally beautiful places of the valley, first group of 25 students form different schools of Anantnag district took a walk of famous Dachigham National Park.
 
They were escorted by 3 senior field officials of the Department of Youth Services and Sports. The students were briefed about various important and rare aspects of the National Park. Pertinently students from all other districts of Kashmir valley are also participating in the Nature Walk as per the devised schedule to be followed till 31st of the current month. Nature Walk 23 is being organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports with the support of Department of Wild Life Protection.
 
Pertinently Joint Director Kashmir of Youth Services and Sports Department Waseem Raja visited Ranger Chadoora Budgam to inaugurate Inter-School Tug of War competitions of girls for all age groups. He in his speech appreciated the Sports zone for encouraging participation of girl students in the tourney. He further said that such initiatives would surely help the Department in maximizing the participation of girls in competitive sports. He was accompanied by DYSSO Srinagar and other officials of the Department.
