Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra: DGP chairs high level security review meeting

Srinagar, June 20: Ahead of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, the Director General of Police, J&K,  Dilbag Singh today chaired a high level security review meeting here at Police Headquarters.
The DGP, during the meeting, took a comprehensive review of the security arrangements being placed for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra.
Addressing the meeting, the DGP stated that, following the successful completion of important events, the Jammu and Kashmir Police is prepared for the next major assignment, the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, an annual and very significant event. 
He directed for optimum utilization of available resources in accommodating the requirements of District Police units which are directly concerned with the Yatra.
The DGP directed the mobilisation of manpower from various wings and districts, emphasising the importance of making extra efforts to ensure an incident-free Yatra. He also directed the integration of BDS teams at key deployment locations.
He also directed the officers to ensure that all SOPs are followed in letter and spirit, and emphasised the importance of assigning responsibility to each team leader assigned to the yatra. He directed the officers to submit any requirements, which he stated would be prioritised.
The DGP directed the deployment of assistance teams equipped with all necessary tools at base camps and other important locations to assist and help pilgrims. He directed the placement of all possible Base Camp security arrangements as well as the strengthening of the communication network. 
He stressed for effective and planned regulation of traffic management on national highway and other roads, parking of vehicles and deployment of forces on both the yatra routes of Pahalgam and Baltal etc. He directed that the conduct of deployed personnel should be exemplary, adding that they are also doing facilitation duty besides ensuring safe and secure Amarnath yatra. The DGP urged officers to make full use of modern security gadgets/technology such as CCTVs and drones to enhance security at key Yatra locations and en route. He emphasised the importance of paying special attention to sensitive locations and base camps, such as dhabas, langars, eateries, and parking lots. 
He ordered the deployment of rapid response teams to assist the pilgrims right away. The DGP directed the establishment of special help lines for pilgrims, emphasising that the helpline numbers of PCRs, District Police officers including SDPOs, and SHOs be made public and circulated through every possible medium so that yatris could take note and easily request assistance. 
He directed for conducting the mock drills of different contingency plans and also to conduct a dry run of convoy under the supervision of senior officers well before the start of the Yatra.
The meeting was attended by Spl DG CID, J&K, R. R Swain, ADsGP  S. J. M. Gillani,  M.K Sinha,  Vijay Kumar, IGP Hqrs/Traffic  B S Tuti, DsIG  Sujit Kumar,  Vivek Gupta,  Imtiaz Ismail Parray,  Rayees Mohammad Bhat, Shahid Mehraj, DIG HG/CID Kashmir, Divisional Commandant HG Srinagar, SSP Security Kashmir, District SSPs of Srinagar, Bandipora, Ganderbal, Pulwama, Budgam, Kulgam & Awantipora, SSP Traffic Srinagar, AIsG of PHQ attended the meeting at PHQ. While ADGP Jammu  Mukesh Singh, DIsG  Sunil Gupta, M Suleman Choudhary &  Shakti Pathak, District SSsP of Jammu, Kathua, Samba, Udhampur, Ramban, Shopian, Kupwara & Handwara, SSP Traffic Rural/City and SSP Security Jammu attended the meeting through virtual mode.
