Srinagar, July 23: In a touching incident at the Amarnath Holy Cave, a female pilgrim from Kerala, Sadna, had her faith in humanity restored when her lost bag, containing a mobile phone and cash worth one lakh rupees, was found and returned to her. The honest and principled act of a young security officer from the Jammu and Kashmir Police played a pivotal role in reuniting the grateful woman with her precious belongings.
Sadna, a devout pilgrim from Kerala, faced a moment of distress on Sunday when she discovered her bag, wallet, and mobile phone missing while returning from the holy cave. The bag held not only her mobile phone but also a substantial amount of money she had diligently saved for this special spiritual journey. The bag was an essential part of her pilgrimage experience.
Upon realizing her loss, Sadna immediately approached the announcement desk to report the incident. The sympathetic and concerned officials from the Jammu and Kashmir Police assured her that they would promptly inform the local police. Filled with hope and prayer, Sadna awaited any news of her lost belongings.
Meanwhile, a young security officer from the Jammu and Kashmir Police came across the misplaced bag. Instead of being tempted by its contents, he exemplified honesty and integrity by promptly informing his parents about the discovery. Recognizing the significance of the situation, they immediately contacted the authorities and handed over the lost bag to the appropriate personnel.
“The joyous moment came when Sadna was reunited with her belongings, and tears of gratitude welled up in her eyes. Overwhelmed with emotion, she expressed her heartfelt thanks to the temple administration and the local police for their prompt action and assistance,” said an official at the ShriAmarnathji Shrine Board (SASB).
The local community is also applauding the young police officer for his exemplary conduct, as his actions have set an inspiring example for others to follow.
The annual AmarnathYatra, which includes visiting the shrine located at an altitude of 3,880 meters, began on July 1 this year and has seen participation from over three lakh pilgrims so far.
To ensure the smooth pilgrimage experience, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, undertook a visit to Panjtarni, a crucial location en route to the holy Amarnath Cave Shrine. Panjtarni serves as a temporary base camp, catering to the needs of the yatries. Accompanied by a team of officials from various departments, Bidhuri arrived at Panjtarni early in the morning to assess the existing facilities and review the arrangements put in place for the pilgrims.
