Srinagar, Nov 16: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President and Member of Parliament Dr Farooq Abdullah and Vice President Omar Abdullah Thursday paid tributes to veteran journalist and founder of Urdu daily ‘Srinagar Times’ Sofi Ghulam Muhammad on his 14th death anniversary.
Offering tribute to Late Sofi, Dr Farooq said, “Sofi Sahib called a spade a spade. He was one of the pioneers of Urdu journalism in Kashmir and widely appreciated for his editorials. He was also known for his penchant for Urdu literature.”
Paying tributes to Sofi, Omar Abdullah said, “On his 14th death anniversary, I pay my earnest tributes to him. May Allah grant eternal peace to his soul.”
NC General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar, Additional General Secretary Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamal, Treasurer Shammi Oberoi, Provincial President, Kashmir, Nasir Aslam Wani, Chief Spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq, State spokesman Imran Nabi Dar also paid tributes to Sofi on his death anniversary.
Meanwhile, the party’s Chief Spokesperson and Communications head Tanvir Sadiq presided over a commemorative function on the occasion at the party headquarters.
Meanwhile, Dr Farooq and Omar expressed grief over the demise of Khan Mohd Khan, former Provincial Secretary Jammu, who passed away at Bhaderwah on Wednesday. They conveyed condolences to the bereaved family, prayed for peace to the departed soul and expressed solidarity with other members of the family.
Other party leaders also expressed grief over the demise and prayed for peace to the departed soul.
The NC leadership also expressed grief over the demise of Sheroo Kumar, son of Bahadur Lal, Vice President JKNC District Jammu (Urban) and conveyed condolences to the bereaved family.
In their messages, Dr Farooq, Omar and other party leaders prayed for peace to the departed soul and expressed solidarity with other members of the family.
