Anantnag, Aug 30: Former Chief Minister and J&K Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday said the valley is incomplete without Kashmiri Pandits.
She said this during her visit to Thajiwara temple in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district where she extended warm wishes to the Kashmiri Pandit community on the occasion of their annual Hawan, coinciding with Raksha Bandhan celebrations.
Speaking to the reporters on the sidelines, Mufti reflected on the tumultuous history of the past few decades, particularly the challenges faced by the people of the valley. She said the significant loss of human lives has left an indelible mark on the history of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Our Kashmiri Pandits, our daughters, our brothers, our sisters who had to leave Kashmir, that loss can’t be compensated until they return to their homes and live with us. I think that is the only solution and that will unite the valley. Until then, the valley is incomplete,” Mufti said.
She said her father and PDP founder Mufti Sayeed, during his tenure as chief minister, made efforts aimed at protecting and caring for the Pandits who resided in the valley. He was creating an atmosphere where those residing in Jammu and other parts of India could rejoin their homes in the valley, she said
Mufti said, “In my opinion, the disturbance in J&K will not end until the Kashmiri Pandit community joins us in the valley. This is my belief.”
