Jammu, 26 June: In observance of World Drug Day 2025, Sangam Theatre Group Reasi staged a compelling Dogri Nukkad Natak titled “Nasha Mukti” at Dogra Chowk, Jammu. The performance was organised by the Excise and Taxation Department, City Excise Range North Jammu, under the guidance of Excise Commissioner J&K, Subash Chander Chibber, and the direct supervision of Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive), Jammu and Excise and Taxation Officer, City Range North, Swati Gupta.
The street play powerfully conveyed the harsh realities of drug abuse and the devastating impact it has not only on users but also on those involved in its trade. Through vivid scenes and emotional storytelling, the natak warned of the long-term suffering and destruction caused by substance abuse—pain far outweighing any momentary pleasure. A large number of young spectators witnessed the performance and were visibly moved by its message. The cast included Ishan Mansotra, Raja Aamir Khan, Nia Chouhan, Archna Sharma, M. Akram Khan, Sachin Salotra, Simran Kour, Aasim Nadam, Ravika, and Varun Khajuria. The play was directed by M. Akram Khan. The actors portrayed a range of real-life scenarios highlighting how drug addiction ruins individuals and families alike, likening it to a ticking time bomb bound to explode. The central message was clear- the only escape from the menace of drugs is complete avoidance and vigilant protection of loved ones from falling into its trap. The audience appreciated both the meaningful content of the nukkad natak and the powerful performances delivered by the cast. Many expressed gratitude to the Excise and Taxation Department, J&K, for organising such impactful awareness events to sensitise youth and the general public.
