CM reviews Raabita, pushes for faster grievance resolution

Jammu, Feb 21: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah chaired a review meeting today in Srinagar to assess the functioning of the CM’s Public Services and Outreach Office, Raabita, and to strengthen its role in effectively addressing public grievances.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister directed that Raabita Nodal Officers be appointed at the district level to ensure the prompt and efficient resolution of public issues. He emphasized the importance of a proactive approach in engaging with citizens, ensuring that government initiatives and grievance redressal mechanisms are easily accessible to all.
A detailed presentation was made on the office’s operations, highlighting key achievements and ongoing efforts aimed at enhancing public service delivery. The Chief Minister reiterated his government’s unwavering commitment to a transparent, accountable, and people-centric administration. He instructed officials to adopt a more responsive, results-oriented approach, ensuring grievances are resolved in a time-bound manner. He also emphasized the need to improve the quality of grievance resolution and ensure that grievances are thoroughly addressed before marking them as disposed.
Highlighting the importance of direct engagement with citizens, the Chief Minister directed officials to enhance outreach through awareness campaigns, interactive public sessions, and digital platforms. He reassured the public that his government remains committed to listening to their concerns and taking concrete actions to resolve them.
In a separate development, a delegation from the Group of Concerned Citizens (GCC), led by former IAS officer Khurshid Ahmad Ganai, met the Chief Minister at the Raabita office to express concerns over proposed amendments to the Unified Building Bye-Laws (UBBL). The GCC members requested the Chief Minister to review the amendments and urban planning policies introduced by the Housing & Urban Development Department just before the elected government assumed office in October.
The Chief Minister listened to their concerns and assured the delegation that his government would carefully examine the proposed amendments, along with other urban development policies, before approval. He further emphasized that all stakeholders would be consulted before finalising any policy or bringing forth any legislation in this regard.
