Srinagar, May 06: In a strategic move aimed at ensuring smooth conduct of upcoming elections, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, V K Birdi, undertook a crucial visit to South Kashmir, encompassing the districts of Shopian, Pulwama, and PD Awantipora.
Accompanied by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) SKR and other senior police officers, IGP Kashmir engaged in extensive interactions with district police chiefs, meticulously reviewing the poll preparedness while taking a comprehensive stock of the security situation within the range.
During the series of meetings convened in Shopian, Pulwama, and Awantipora, attended by district police and Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) officers, various pertinent issues were deliberated upon. Discussions spanned from the deployment of CAPFs to electoral arrangements at polling booths, as well as the security measures concerning contesting candidates and the deployment plans for Polling Day.
District Senior Superintendents of Police (SSsP) presented detailed briefings to IGP Kashmir regarding the overarching deployment plans, including the arrangements made for CAPF companies. Emphasising the imperative of close coordination among all security agencies, IGP Kashmir underscored proactive measures aimed at thwarting any attempts by anti-national elements, thus ensuring the safety and security of all stakeholders involved in the electoral process.
The visit culminated with a comprehensive review of the strategies and action plans devised to facilitate the peaceful conduct of elections, signifying a robust commitment towards upholding the democratic ethos and ensuring the safety of citizens during the electoral process.
