Jammu, Oct 28: Taking strong cognizance of the unprovoked cross border firing from Pak rangers in Arnia sector , The BSF on Saturday lodged a strong protest with the Pakistani Rangers over the cross border firing incident and mortar shelling targeting civilian areas and BSF posts in Arnia Sector recently.
“We had a meeting with the Pakistani Rangers today during which we lodged our strong protest over the unprovoked firing,” a senior BSF official on the conditions of anonymity said.
Pertinent to mention here ,Pakistani Rangers resorted to unprovoked firing and mortar shelling in the Arnia area of RS Sector along the International Border (IB) on Thursday at around 8 PM targeting forward villages and BSF posts.
The firing and mortar shelling continued for around seven hours during which one BSF Jawan and a woman were injured.
The firing and shelling was so intense that it created panic in the forward villages forcing the locals to leave their homes. The locals later returned after assurance from the authorities.
Meanwhile, this was the second flag meeting between the BSF and Pak Rangers in 10 days after two BSF personnel were injured when a post in Arnia was targeted from across the border on October 17.
