Counter-Terror Op : Over 50 locations raided in Sgr, Doda, & Kishtwar

Srinagar, Apr 28: In a major counter-terror operation, police on Monday conducted searches at over 50 locations across Srinagar, Doda, and Kishtwar districts. The searches targeted individuals suspected of supporting banned terror outfits. Officials stated that the raids were aimed at “breaking the backbone of the terror ecosystem still operating underground” in Jammu and Kashmir.
A police official confirmed that the searches were conducted at the residences of several indi-viduals involved in terror-related activities. In Srinagar alone, 36 locations were searched, focus-ing on individuals already implicated in multiple FIRs under the UAPA, Arms Act, and various sections of the IPC.
“The residences raided included those of Javid Ahmad Najar of Zaibakadal, who is involved in multiple cases registered at various police stations, including M.R. Gunj, Kothibagh, Safakadal, Nigeen, and Soura; Adil Ahmad Sofi of Rathpora Eidgah, who is booked under UAPA; and Shabir Ahmad Ganie of New Theed, among others,” the official said. Other individuals like Sheikh Faisal Rashid of Sadipora, Momin Javari Gojri of Shalimar Colony, and Rayees Ahmad Najar of Kalaldoori Naidkadal were also targeted in the operation.
Similarly, locations of individuals like Ashiq Hussain Bhat of Darbagh, Farooq Ahmad Dar of Bhagwanpora, Burhan Ahmad Shah of Zampakadal, and Altaf Ahmad Dar of Malikpora Barthana were searched. The operations further covered suspects like Umer Hamid Sheikh of Hazratbal, Tawheed Ahmad of Goripora Sozieth, and Ilyas Ahmad Sangeen of Lalbazar, who are implicated in multiple UAPA and IPC-related FIRs.
Among those whose houses were raided are also individuals like Manzoor Ahmad Bhat of Hamza Colony, Tawous Ahmad Gadda of Bemina, Junaid Ahmad Parry of Baripora, and Mehraj-Ud-Din Khan of Khankhai Sokhta Nawakadal. Names like Mu-savir Nabi Bhat of Wanganpora, Arash Koul of Nawa Bazar, Shakir Farooq Bhat of Na-wabazar, and Bashrat Ahmad Bazaz of Fathakadal also figured in the list.
The official said that the extensive operation included targets like Furqan Nazir of Zainakadal, Zulafkar Ahmad Najar of Urdu Bazar, Momin Ahmad Sheikh of Batyar Ali Kadal, Qasir Altaf Hakeem of Nawab Bazar, Manzoor Ahmad Danposh of Dabtal, and Faizan Nisar Rangraz of Naidkadal, all linked to FIRs involving serious offenses under UAPA and the Arms Act.
“Further searches were carried out at the residences of Ashiq Hussain Rangrez of Jamia Masjid area, Aqib Lateef Wani of Mumkhan Mohalla, Farooq Ahmad Wani of Kathi Darwaza, Syed Ahmad Parimoo of Badamwari, and Syed Asrar Qardi of Lalbazar. The houses of Jasia Nazir of Khunmoh, Bashir Sultan Bhat of Shankarpora Nowgam, and several others were also raided during the operation,” he said.
“This operation is part of our sustained efforts to uproot every strand of the terror eco-system still operating underground. Those found furthering the agenda of violence or disruption will face strict legal action,” he said.
The official said that the searches were conducted following proper legal procedures, in the presence of Executive Magistrates and independent witnesses, under the close supervision of senior officers of the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
“During the raids, arms, incriminating documents, digital devices, and other evidence were seized, aimed at strengthening ongoing investigations and gathering intelligence to thwart any potential conspiracies against national security,” he said.
The official said that it was aimed to dismantle terrorist networks by identifying and taking legal measures against individuals involved in anti-national and criminal activi-ties. We are aimed to maintaining peace and ensuring that anyone found involved in unlawful activities will be dealt with firmly under the law, he said.
Meanwhile Police conducted searches at the premises of several terrorists operating from POK and their associates in Doda and Kishtwar districts of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Extensive searches are being carried out at the residences of terrorists and their associ-ates in connection with ongoing investigations under the Unlawful Activities (Preven-tion) Act (UAPA),” the official said.
He said Police teams conducted searches at the premises of several individuals be-lieved to be connected to terror groups and those operating from PoJK in Doda and Kishtwar districts on Monday.
“Operations against terrorists and their ecosystem have been intensified following a terror attack in south Kashmir’s Pahalgam on April 22, which resulted in the deaths of 26 people, including a Nepalese citizen, and left many injured,” the official said adding that action is being taken by police following due legal procedures.
