Srinagar, Nov 16: In a strong push for road safety following an alarming rise in road accidents, the traffic police in rural Kashmir have taken strict action against traffic violators, issuing a total of 1144 challans on Saturday.
The move, launched under the direction of SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir, Ravinder Pal Singh, is to reduce road accidents that have been a growing concern of late.
Speaking about the initiative, SSP Ravinder Pal Singh said that it is important to focus on key violations that contribute to road accidents, such as overspeeding, rash driving, and driving without safety gear.
Special attention was also given to underage driving, with officers conducting counseling sessions to educate the public on the severe repercussions of allowing minors to operate vehicles, he said.
The campaign, which targets major roads and towns in Rural Kashmir, is set to continue until desired results are achieved, with a particular focus on reducing the alarming number of road accidents in the region, SSP said.
He said that the department is committed to ensure zero tolerance towards violations and strengthen road safety across the area.
