Khansahib Voters warn: No support for leaders who ignore long-standing demands

Budgam, Sept 17: As the Assembly elections draw closer, residents of the Khansahib constituency in central Kashmir’s Budgam district are vocalizing their demands for crucial reforms. The spotlight is on addressing unemployment, enhancing education, and boosting tourism to unlock the region’s potential.
Javid Ahmad, a resident of Khag tehsil, expressed his frustration with long-standing neglect. “The Khag tehsil has been sidelined by successive governments. We’ve been demanding a degree college and a Sub-District Hospital for years,” he told Rising Kashmir.
“The lack of educational and healthcare infrastructure forces students to travel daily to Magam and Beerwah for higher studies, adding to their hardships. The government needs to address these basic issues in every village of Khag tehsil,” he urged, emphasizing that this election is different. “People are more aware now. They will vote for the candidate who works for the welfare of the constituency.”
Farooq Ahmad, a postgraduate in tourism, highlighted the critical unemployment issue. “There are no jobs in either the government or private sector, especially for general category candidates. I completed my post-graduation in tourism, but there are no opportunities,” he lamented. He called for the development of tourist hotspots like Tosmaidan and Doodhpathri, stressing that these sites could generate year-round employment for local youth.
He also advocated for better facilities in schools, particularly computer labs, to help students develop skills in the growing IT sector. “Government schools should provide computer education so students can build careers in IT,” he said.
Meanwhile, young voter Muskan Jan echoed the need for comprehensive infrastructure development. “Many villages in Khansahib lack proper road connectivity, water supply, electricity, and adequate school and healthcare facilities. These issues need to be addressed,” she said.
Jan added that the people of Khansahib are ready for change. “Voters are prepared to support a representative who will finally resolve the constituency’s long-pending problems.”
With rising awareness and growing frustration, the upcoming election in Khansahib may well be a turning point, as voters demand concrete action and development.
