JAMMU, July 15: A high alert has been sounded in the Akhnoor area of the Jammu region after locals reported spotting two armed suspects in PanchayatJandial.
This follows a similar incident reported a few days ago in the same location. CCTV footage from a house in JandialPanchayat confirmed the movement of the suspects.
The Police and the Army have launched an intense joint search operation in response to the sightings. The entire area has been cordoned off, and searches are ongoing. As a precaution, the Steel bridge over River Chenab, connecting Jammu with Akhnoor, Rajouri, Poonch, and other areas, remains closed for the fourth consecutive day.
In a separate incident, a rusted grenade was found in the parking area of the Jammu High Court at Janipur. The Police were alerted immediately and recovered the grenade. An investigation is underway following the registration of a case.
Meanwhile, security forces also conducted joint searches in Doda and Reasi districts based on reports of suspicious movements. However, no suspicious activity was found during the searches, which lasted for over two hours.
Authorities urge residents to stay vigilant and report any unusual activities as security measures remain heightened in the region.
