UT Level Apex Committee to review Holistic Agriculture Development Projects

Srinagar, May 19: UT Level Apex Committee chaired by Dr. Mangla Rai former Director General ICAR, took a review of Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP).
All Members of the UTLAC including Dr. Ahok Dalwai, CEO, NRAA, Dr. H.S Gupta Former Director IARI & DG BISA, Dr P.K. Joshi Secretary NAAS, Pusa New Delhi and Dr. J.P. Sharma former Vice-Chancellor SKUAST-K/J reviewed the Projects along with Shailendra Kumar, Principal Secretary to Govt. APD, Ms. Yasha Mudgal, Mission Director HADP Dr. Nazir A. Ganai, Vice-Chancellor, SKUAST-K, and Dr. B.N. Tripathi Vice-Chancellor SKUAST-J. Director Research of SKUAST-K and J, Heads of the Development Departments of Agriculture, Horticulture Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry Fisheries, HPMC, Sericulture etc. along with HoDs and Scientists of SKUAST-K and J participated in the two days meeting on 18th and 19th May 2024 at SKUAST-K Shalimar Campus.
Shailendra Kumar gave the overall view of the Agriculture and Allied Sectors in J&K and highlighted the achievements under HADP. Ms. Yasha Mudgal, Mission Director HADP through a detailed Power Point Presentations outlined the implementation plan ranging from farmer awareness, training of field staff and periodic monitoring of the projects. She also highlighted the output and outcome of the Project. Review of all 29 individual Projects that followed involved a threadbare discussion on the achievements on all Projects and the constraints faced were identified.
During the field visit on Day 2, the Apex Committee Members had an interaction with beneficiaries. The Committee visited Protected Cultivation Faculty at Maloora, Dairy Unit at Bakura, High Density Orchard at Zakura and Fish Farm at Dachigam.
Holistic Agriculture Development Project launched by J&K Govt. at the cost of Rs. 5,000 Cr. during 2023-24 and dedicated to farmers on 19.05.2024 by the Prime Minister, aims at revamping the Agriculture and Allied Sectors and taking it from subsistence to Commercially viable agriculture in the next five years.
