Srinagar, April 18:
In a proactive move to ensure the smooth and secure conduct of upcoming elections, the Inspector General of Police Kashmir Zone, Shri V K Birdi-IPS, led a comprehensive security review meeting at the Police Control Room Kashmir.
Attended by a host of officials from various security agencies including Police, Intelligence agencies, CRPF, SSB, ITBP, Army, and BSF, the meeting delved into strategies aimed at safeguarding public safety and upholding the integrity of the electoral process.
Addressing the gathering, IGP Kashmir emphasized the importance of reassessing existing security strategies to thwart potential terror incidents. He directed district heads to analyze and reinforce area domination strategies, leaving no room for security gaps.
Birdi stressed the necessity of neutralizing threats posed by anti-social elements and terrorist associates, urging strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure operational efficiency and safety. He underscored the need for maintaining a secure environment for the movement of territorial officers and security personnel.
The range DIGs were tasked with vigilant monitoring of respective areas to facilitate safe passage for Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) across districts. Coordination with counterpart DIGs of CAPFs for route planning was also emphasized.
Special focus was placed on intensifying cordon and search operations (CASOs) and generating actionable intelligence inputs, particularly in areas near highways, to counter potential threats. High-level checkpoints at entry points to Srinagar and inter-district boundaries adjoining the city were highlighted to enhance security measures.
The meeting concluded with a collective resolve to strengthen anti-terrorist operations and enhance security measures, ensuring peaceful and incident-free elections. The concerted efforts of all stakeholders were hailed as crucial in maintaining law and order during the electoral process.
