Srinagar, Sep 17: Apni Party (AP) president Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari Saturday expressed his deep sense of grief over the killing of a minor girl by a wild animal in Gawashar village of Uri in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Munaza, a 5-year-old was taken away by a leopard near her home in Gawashar village of Uri on Friday evening. Her mauled body was found in a nearby jungle on Sunday.
According to a statement issued here, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari while expressing his deep sorrow over the killing of the girl by a wild animal said, “I felt deeply pained to hear about this heart-wrenching incident. My heart goes out to the parents of the little girl. No words of sympathy and condolence can alleviate the pain that the parents of the victim must be going through at this point in time. May Almighty Allah give them much-needed strength to bear the pain of this irreparable loss.”
While expressing his concern over the frequent occurrences of such incidents in Uri, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari urged the authorities to take all precautionary and required initiatives to ensure such tragedies do not occur in the future.
He said, “I am told that this is the 5th incident during this year alone in which minors have fallen prey to the attacks by wild animals in Baramulla district. Apparently, the wildlife department has failed to take the required measures to stop the occurrences of such tragic incidents. Expert opinion must be taken to find the causes of growing man-animal conflict in the Baramulla district and subsequently, the required measures must be taken to ensure the safety of the vulnerable populations.”
He also demanded compensation for the family of the victim.
