Srinagar, Nov 07: All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) Monday extended greetings to people on the occasion of 553rd birth anniversary of Guru Nanak DevJi.
In a statement, the APSCC leaders PrinicpalNaranjan Singh, Ajeet Singh Mastana, Santsingh, Dr.Jaipal Singh Bali, Davinder Singh, Gurdayal Singh and others have wished and prayed this festive occasion of Gurpuruab brings about peace and happiness in the world.
The APSCC Chairman and JKAP vice-president Kashmir province Jagmohan Singh Raina, said that people should follow teachings of Guru Nanak DevJi so that his message of love and peace percolates down.
The APSCC Chairman said that ultimate peace can be achieved if people follow the path set out by Guru Nanak ji.
Raina said Kashmir held a special place for Guru Nanak ji since he visited the valley along with his companions which left an indomitable impact on Kashmir.
There are various testimonies and artefacts which confirm the historical lineage with Gurudwara in Leh, Bijbehara, Ramnagar as well as many other parts of the union territory which are associated with his visit.
Guru NankDevji visited Kashmir in 1518 AD. He stayed at Bijbehara and Avantipur. He happened to meet PanditBrahm Das who was highly impressed with the way of life and teachings of Guru Nanak DevJi which led him to embrace Sikhism, the beginning of the Sikhism in the valley.
Universal brotherhood and secularism entailed from his companionship with Bala, a Hindu and Mardana, a Muslim.
The APSCC Chairman said that a musical instrument ‘rabaab’ that was always carried by Mardana, is preserved at Shernangla in Ramnagar, Jammu.
He said that Guru Nanak Devji preached against caste systems and suppression. He covered thousands of miles on foot, addressing and preaching people about humanity. The natives of Basoli were very much influenced by the philosophy of Guru Nanak devJi and the same gets reflected in the 17-18 century paintings (pahari and miniature paintings), which are available in worldwide libraries.
He used to enlighten people by reciting the hymns and showering praise on the Almighty.
Raina said that Indian politicians should follow Guru Nanak Devji’s teachings which are based on humanity, equality to strengthen the nationhood and brotherhood which is most required in the present political scenario.
He said that Prime Minister NarinderModi should consider including teachings of Guru Nanak ji in the chapter of basic education of the country to further strengthen the relations of various religious groups which is a need in the present political scenario.
Pol leaders greet people on Gurupurab, pray for development, brotherhood in J&K
Political leaders Monday offered greetings to people on the auspicious occasion of 553rd birth anniversary of Shri Guru Nanak DevJiMaharaj.
National Conference (NC) President and Member of Parliament from Srinagar Dr Farooq Abdullah and vice-president Omar Abdullah Monday greeted people, especially, the Sikh brethren on the auspicious eve.
Party President said Guru Nanak DevJiMaharaj stood against the scourge of caste division, and religious discrimination.
“He voiced for the oppressed and underprivileged. I greet people especially our Sikh brethren on the observance of the birthday observance of Guru Ji. May the day increase the prospects of peace and brotherhood in J&K and further the cause of camaraderie,” he said.
Party vice-president Omar Abdullah also extended warm greetings to people on the auspicious occasion.
“Guru Nanak DevJi’s message on humanism, social equality, and amity are of eternal relevance having a universal and timeless appeal that cut across the sectarian, communal and regional divides,” he said.
Meanwhile, Apni Party President Syed Mohammed AltafBukhari greeted people of Jammu and Kashmir on the auspicious occasion of Guru Nanak DevJi’s birth anniversary (Gurupurab). In his message, AltafBukhari said that the occasion provides us an opportunity to follow the footsteps and teachings of Guru Nanak DevJi. He prayed for development, peace and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir.
