Three consolidated workers at the Assistant Regional Transport Office in Sopore were disengaged on Wednesday after being arrested by the Anti Corruption Bureau for accepting bribes.
The workers, identified as Aijaz Ahmed Mir, Mohammad Ashraf Dar, and Farooq Ahmed Wagay, were arrested this month by the ACB while demanding and accepting bribes at the ARTO office in Sopore.
The disengagement came on the recommendation of ARTO Baramulla, according to an official order issued on Wednesday.
“In view of the recommendations made by the ARTO Baramulla conveyed by the RTO Kashmir vide No. RTOK/Estt/615-17dated 19-04-2023, the consolidated workers namely Ajaz Ahmad Mir son of Abdul Jabar Mir, a resident of Janbazpora, Baramulla, Mohd Ashraf Dar son of Ghulam Nabi Dar, a resident of Reban Sopore and Farooq Ahmad Wagay son of Assadullah, a resident of Khan Sahab Budgam are hereby disengaged with immediate effect,” the order further added.
The arrests and subsequent disengagement of the workers have highlighted the ongoing issue of corruption in the ARTO office in Baramulla.
The ACB has been cracking down on such activities in recent months, and the latest arrests and disengagement are seen as a stern warning to others involved in corrupt practices.
