Inter-zone girls sports meet held at Reasi

Reasi, May 30: District Development Commissioner Reasi, Babila Rakwal on Tuesday inaugurated girls inter-zone sports meet organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) Reasi here in the General Zorawar Singh Stadium.
The DC interacted with the participants drawn from all five zones of the district to participate in Kho- Kho, Kabaddi and Volleyball competitions in two age groups of under-14 and under-17.
While interacting with the girl participants, District Development Commissioner Babila Rakwal emphasized on involvement of each school going girl in sports activities. Sports have the power to change lives and have the ability to develop self-reliance, resilience and confidence. Women in sports defy gender stereotypes and social norms, make inspiring role models and show men and women as equal, she added.
In volleyball under 17, zone Pouni beat Reasi by 3-2, in Kabaddi under 14, zone Reasi beat zone Pouni and under 17, zone Pouni beat zone Arnas. In Kho – Kho under 17, Reasi beat Chassana and also in Kho-Kho under 14 Pouni beat Mahore.
District Youth Service and Sports officer, Taresem Singh and ZPEO Reasi (Zone) Ram Krishan Bhat, Dalvir Mehta  Manager  Sports council Gen. Zarower Singh Stadiun  and Neelsh Shukla  Manger Sports Council Indoor Stadium Reasi  were also present on the occasion.
