Srinagar, March 05: Sheeraza, a 45-year-old resident of Rakhshalina Taingan, Budgam, has emerged as a beacon of empowerment, transforming her life from poverty to prosperity through the Jammu & Kashmir Rural Livelihoods Mission (JKRLM). Her journey, marked by entrepreneurial spirit and the pivotal support of JKRLM, has resulted in a thriving bakery business and a newfound sense of financial independence.

In 2018, seeking a way out of dire financial straits, Sheeraza joined a Self-Help Group (SHG) under JKRLM. This decision ignited her entrepreneurial journey, leading to the establishment of her bakery in 2019.

“Before joining JKRLM, life was incredibly challenging. We often struggled to put food on the table. But the support I received from JKRLM changed everything,” she said.

JKRLM’s support was multifaceted and crucial. A Rs 60,000 Village Organization (VO) loan facilitated by JKRLM allowed her to kickstart her bakery. Subsequent loans, including a Rs 1 lakh bank linkage loan arranged through JKRLM’s network for infrastructure development, a Rs 1.5 lakh bank loan for essential equipment, and a Rs 40,000 loan under the PMFME scheme, further propelled her business.

“JKRLM didn’t just give me money; they gave me hope and guidance. They helped me navigate the process of securing loans and provided valuable support in managing my business, ,” Sheeraza said.

“I am incredibly grateful to JKRLM,” she said, adding that they empowered me to become financially independent. Today, I stand here as a testament to the power of self-reliance,” she added.

About future plans, she says that she plans to expand her bakery by opening a new outlet and acquiring a commercial vehicle for deliveries. “I want to grow my business and create more opportunities for myself and others in my community,”Sheeraza said.
