Srinagar, 08 November 2024: With an aim to boost entrepreneurial spirit and equip students with real-world experience, the three-day-long business cum musical fest “Chirgish” organized by the Department of Management Studies of the University of Kashmir successfully concluded on Friday.
The fest begins on the morning of 06 November and is inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor of the University Prof. Nelofar Khan.
The fest featured live musical performances, games, fashion, food and arts and crafts, leading to the welcoming atmosphere.
From managing huge footfall to ensuring the fest ran smoothly, the students from management studies were seen actively engaged in various tasks. Additionally, a considerable number of stalls were installed by the students, gaining real-world experience in selling and promoting various products and dishes.
Moreover, Srinagar-based singer Mir Mehmood also executed his live musical performance on the evening of 6 November.
While expressing gratitude towards organising authorities, a participating student said that this fest provided them the opportunity to gain practical experience.
“We established our stall on the very first day and we gained first-hand experience regarding how to deal with customers. Visitors flow is favourable so we have generated handsome revenue,” said Waris Ul Haramal, a 10-semester student of IMBA

The fest witnessed the massive participation of students from various departments of the University on the following day as well.
The renowned Kashmiri Playback singer Ishfaq Kawa sang several hit Bollywood as well as Kashmiri songs, creating a vibrant and festive atmosphere across the University.
“It was a truly energetic and enjoyable event. All of the business students were filled with enthusiasm. The prices of the majority of the products were genuine. The fest created memorable moments for all involved,” said Muazam Mohi Ud Din, a first-semester student.
Talking to Rising Kashmir, the head of the management studies department Professor Bashir Ahmad Joo said that the department is offering four courses and to produce competent manpower first-hand experience is highly important.
“Our main goal is to raise entrepreneurs and corporate leaders. Nowadays, we need more job providers for our society. 70 per cent of the stalls were installed and handled by our students.
“We are running four courses including MBA in Financial Management, Master of Business Administration, Integrated MBA and IMBA and through this fest, we are trying to provide them practical exposure of how to establish own start-up,” he added.
