Jammu, Oct 16: The Shiv Sena (UBT) Jammu-Kashmir unit on Wednesday convened an introspection meeting to discuss the results of the recent assembly elections.
“It was unanimously decided to dissolve the existing state and district units and form an executive committee,” the party said in a statement issued here, adding that the meeting also included well wishes for the newly formed Omar Abdullah-led government and a call for equal rights for Jammu.
Chaired by state chief Manish Sahni at the party’s central office, the decision to dissolve the units took immediate effect, as per directives from the party’s high command. An 11-member executive committee was established to oversee future actions.
Sahni said, “Based on recommendations from this committee, the state and district units will soon be reorganized, and candidates for the upcoming local body and panchayat elections will be selected.”
He said it is important to foster mutual brotherhood between the Jammu and Kashmir divisions and urged that equal rights be granted to Jammu.
The newly formed executive committee, as per the statement, includes Meenakshi Chhibber, Baby Kaul, Vikas Bakshi, Sanjeev Kohli, Balwant Singh, Jai Bharat, Rajesh Jandial, Dr Bharat Gupta, Raj Singh, Malik Bashir and Geeta Lakhotra.
