Srinagar, Feb 16: In anticipation of heavy snowfall in the plains, Commissioner of Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), Owais Ahmad, on Friday said that the Corporation is fully prepared to tackle the impending weather challenges.
Highlighting the commitment to efficient snow clearance measures, he assured residents that both manpower and machinery are on high alert.
“For snow clearance, dewatering, control room operations, and deploying field staff across all wards in Srinagar district, the Corporation is ready,” Commissioner Ahmad said.
He laminated “A comprehensive strategy includes 43 snow clearance machines, 127 mobile dewatering pumps, and over 3500 field staff, all poised to ensure minimal inconvenience to the people of Srinagar.
Acknowledging the importance of technology, Ahmad highlighted the addition of permanent pumping stations and advanced machinery to enhance convenience during weather uncertainties.
He attributed the improved drainage network in Srinagar to interventions under the Smart City Project in recent years, with ongoing efforts to further refine water draining mechanisms.
“We are well-prepared to clear the roads within stipulated time, alleviating concerns of residents,” assured the Commissioner. Additionally, he urged citizens not to worry, stressing the existence of helpline numbers for registering grievances.
