Srinagar, Jun 25: Awami Itihaad Party (AIP) on Wednesday announced that an amount of Rs 41 lakh has been formally sanctioned by incarcerated Member of Parliament (MP) Baramulla, Er Rasheed, for the agrarian community of Qaziabad.
The funds have been sanctioned under the Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MP-LADS) for the Providing and laying of 900mm DIA RCC pipes as part of the Bedreshi Lift Irrigation Scheme (Phase-II), Chief Spokesperson Inam Un Nabi said in a statement issued here.
This vital project, long-awaited by residents of Reshipora, Deedar Pora and adjoining areas, will enhance irrigation infrastructure, ensuring better water availability for hundreds of farmers, he said, adding that it will play a critical role in boosting agricultural productivity and strengthening the rural economy of the region.
The spokesperson welcomed the sanction, saying, “This is just the beginning. We are in the first year of our five-year term with Er Rashid sb as MP and Sheikh Khursheed as MLA. Both are unwaveringly committed to people’s aspirations and real development on the ground. Every genuine issue will be pursued with full sincerity and dedication.”
He added, “The farming community forms the backbone of our society. We assure them that their long-pending issues will no longer be ignored. This step is a testament to our resolve to empower and uplift the grassroots.”
The party extended gratitude to the District Development Commissioner, Kupwara and the concerned I&FC Division, Handwara for the swift administrative action.
