Jammu, Apr 25: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Jammu and Kashmir organised a ‘Shradhanjali Sabha’ (tribute meeting) at its head office here on Friday to honour the victims of the recent terror attack in Pehalgam. The event included a ‘Hawan’ ceremony to pray for peace and the ‘Moksha’ of the departed souls.
Senior BJP leaders, including President Sat Sharma, General Secretary (organisation) Ashok Koul and Dr Nirmal Singh, among others, paid tributes to the victims and observed a two-minute silence in remembrance.
During the gathering, the leaders expressed their condolences to the families affected by the tragedy and urged all segments of society to work collectively towards sustained peace and justice.
Sat Sharma said certain vested interests are attempting to disrupt the prevailing peace, progress and communal harmony in Jammu and Kashmir. “No religion advocates hatred among people, and terrorism must be unequivocally condemned by all,” he said.
Ashok Koul remarked on the global impact of the tragic incident, saying that Union Home Minister Amit Shah personally oversaw the evacuation and medical treatment efforts immediately following the attack.
Koul expressed concerns regarding the targeted killing of innocent civilians in a communal context. He criticised NC MP Aga Syed Ruhullah for allegedly inciting local sentiments by claiming that tourism is encroaching on Kashmir’s culture.
