Jammu, March 15: The Punjabi Lekhak Sabha, Jammu (PLS-J) organised a literary function at Jammu on Saturday to release two Punjabi books and introduce a new Punjabi book series.
The books unveiled at the event were ‘Sairan Bahrley Mulkan Diyan’, authored by Dr Monojit, a renowned Punjabi and Hindi fiction writer and poet from J&K and ‘Aalochana De Ang Sang’, written by R S Rajan, a distinguished Punjabi writer from Kashmir. Additionally, a new Punjabi book series titled ‘Asin’ was launched. The editorial board for this publication comprises Dr Monojit, Jang S Verman, Harjit Singh Uppal, and R S Rajan, with Dr Baljit Singh Raina serving as the managing editor.
Harwinder Kour (JKAS), Secretary of the J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL), graced the occasion as the chief guest, while Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, former Additional Secretary, JKAACL, presided over the programme. The event also featured Dr Baljit Singh Raina (President, PLS-J), Dr Monojit and R S Rajan on the dais. Scholars Dr Harsimran Singh and Charanjeet Singh from the University of Jammu presented insightful papers analysing the content and literary significance of the released books. In his welcome address, Dr Baljit Raina extended his gratitude to the dignitaries and guests while highlighting PLS-J’s literary activities and the significance of introducing a new Punjabi magazine. Delivering his presidential address, Dr Arvinder Singh Amn praised Dr Monojit’s work, ‘Sairan Bahrley Mulkan Diyan’, for its blend of personal reflections, satire, and wit. He also commended Dr Baljit Singh Raina for creating an inclusive platform to promote Punjabi literature in J&K.
