In 9 months, 400 persons arrested in B’la

Srinagar, Sept 17: Police in its ongoing drive against illegal mining in Baramulla have registered 158 cases and arrested 400 persons for being involved in extraction/ transportation of minerals during the current year.
Moreover, 395 vehicles used in illegal transport of minerals which includes 179 Tippers, 210 Tractors & 6 excavators have also been seized from different areas of the district.
Baramulla Police along with the Mineral Department realised a fine to the tune of Rs. 34.00 lacs for illegal extraction/ transportation of minerals in the district.
