Srinagar, June 26: Three terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Gandoh, Bhaderwah sector of district Doda, police said on Wednesday.
Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Jammu, Anand Jain told Rising Kashmir that three terrorists have been killed in Doda operation. Their identification is awaited and will be shared after proper verification, he said.
He said based on specific intelligence inputs, a joint operation of J&K Police and security forces was launched in the Gandoh, Bhaderwah Sector of district Doda.
ADGP Anand Jain along with DIG Doda and SSP Doda were on the spot.
“EarlyWednesday morning, contact has been established with the terrorists and firefight is going on till late evening. In the ensuing encounter, three terrorists were killed and their bodies were retrieved from the site of encounter,” ADGP Jammu Jain said.
He said arms and ammunition have been recovered from their possession. “All the recovered materials have been taken into case records for further investigation,” he said.
Meanwhile, police have registered, a case under relevant sections of law has been and investigation has been initiated.
Another police official said that it is the same terrorists’ group that recently infiltrated in Jammu region and attacked one of the MECP Nakas at Chattergalla Pass, a connecting point between Kathua and Doda districts.
On June 12, seven security personnel, including 5 Armymen, were injured after twin terrorists in Chattergala and GandohBhalessa areas of Doda district in the Jammu region.
Following the encounter, the Jammu and Kashmir police released sketches of four terrorists believed to be hiding in the upper reaches of Bhaderwah, Thathri, and Gandoh in the district.
A reward of Rs 5 lakh is being offered for any information leading to their capture, with assurances that the informant’s identity will remain confidential.
Security has been tightened, with ‘Naka’ checking and rigorous vehicle inspections implemented across the region.
