Srinagar, June 12: Deputy High Commissioner of India in Mauritius Vimarsh Aryan called on Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at Raj Bhawan, today.
He discussed various important matters with the Lt Governor, including successful G20 meeting, trade and tourism potential of J&K UT and investment opportunities in different sectors.
Meanwhile, Vimarsh Aryan, the Deputy High Commissioner of India in Mauritius, visited Baramulla and stated that the district is among the top performers in terms of timely delivery of quality public services, in addition to achieving remarkable results in all development sectors.
The Deputy High Commissioner made the remarks while speaking at a review meeting of the Aspirational District Programme at Dak Bungalow Baramulla.
On the analogy of the Aspirational District Programme in Baramulla, Vimarsh Aryan emphasised the importance of implementing the Aspirational Block Development Programme (ABDP).
He congratulated the district administration on reaching a milestone under the Aspirational District Programme and emphasised the importance of the ABDP Programme for the holistic development of Baramulla’s backward areas.
He stated that the programme is an initiative towards equitable development and that it is expected to usher in a new era of development in the district’s most remote and backward areas in particular.
He laid emphasis on departments to work in a close coordination and synergy so as to transform Baramulla district from Aspirational to Inspirational.
Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, delivered a PowerPoint presentation on the status of implementation and respective achievements under the Aspirational District Programme.
In a detailed description, the Deputy Commissioner stated that the Baramulla district has achieved remarkable results in all sectors under the Aspirational District Programme, and that efforts are being made to saturate all of the identified indicators under the programme in a timely manner.
DC informed that the district has been fully saturated with Mission Indradhanush (Immunization) and 30 health and wellness centres were made functional, machinery equipments worth Rs 8 crore installed at various health institutions of the district besides health institutions were provided with Birth Waiting Wards under heath sector.
She stated that all high schools and higher secondary schools have been fully electrified, that 12 middle schools and 15 high schools have been upgraded to the next level, and that remote schools have been provided with smart boards, tablets, and other electronic devices.
In addition, the DC distributed 167 agriculture implements, 35 quintals of pulses and oil seeds, 12,500 fruit plants, and 12,0729 soil health cards to deserving farming communities, in addition to introducing double cropping.
DC also informed that the district produces 19.50 crore litres of milk annually which makes the district milk surplus.
Among others Joint Director Planning, Assistant Commissioner Development, Chief Education Officer, Chief Agriculture Officer, Chief Medical Officer and other concerned officers attended the meeting.
