Srinagar, Aug 14: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri on Monday said the valid identity cards of civil society members, trade union and transport federation representatives, politicians, students and general public shall be treated as entry passes for the main Independence Day function venue at Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar.
As per an official communiqué, the Div Com extended an invitation for the general public to attend Independence Day Function at Bakshi Stadium.
However, people planning to witness the event have been asked to be seated at the venue before 9am “in order to make the event more graceful and colourful”.
Meanwhile, on the eve of Independence Day, as a precautionary measure three-level security was deployed around the main venue Bakshi Stadium and other prominent sites in all ten district headquarters of the Valley, officials on Monday said.
Bidhuri told Rising Kashmir that all arrangements regarding the celebration have been finalised. At the main function at Bakshi Stadium, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha would unfurl the Tricolour and take the salute.
Bidhuri said there will be no restrictions on public movement on Tuesday and assured uninterrupted internet services. Officials have also decided to ensure normal train services in the Valley on Tuesday. The Div Com said they have already directed Panchayati Raj representatives to unfurl the national flag at district, sub-district, tehsil level, as well as in panchayats.
“At district headquarters, elected District Development Council Representatives (DDC) chairpersons will unfurl the national flag. We are expecting a peaceful day in Kashmir,” he added.
