Continuing its efforts to rein in the menace of drugs from the society, Police on Wednesday have arrested 03 drug peddlers in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district and recovered contraband substance and cash from their possession.
A Police Spokesperson said, “During naka checking at Wadwan crossing, police party of Police post soibugh intercepted two persons who were coming from gotapora towards wadwan, upon seeing police party they tried but police party chased and apprehended the duo tactfully. During questioning the persons disclosed their names as: 01)Yasir Ahmad Wani S/O Reyaz Ahmad Wani R/O Wadwan 02) Javid Ahmad Bhat S/O Ab Khaliq R/O Narbal During their personal search charas like substance 100 grams and a cash amount of *Rs.15400/=* were recovered from their possession.They have been arrested on spot. “
“Similarly, Police Station Beerwah also established a Check point at Rankipora crossing in which one person coming from larbal towards rankipora while seeing the police party tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully by police party. During preliminary questioning, the said person disclosed his name as Mohd Rafiq Sheikh S/O Ab. Ahad Sheikh R/O Larbal beerwah* During his personal search, *Charas like powder weighing 3KG,300 grams* was recovered from his posession. He has been arrested on spot”, he said.
He said that case FIR numbers 25/2023, 14/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Budgam and Police Station Beerwah respectively & investigation taken up.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
