Srinagar, July 6: The annual pilgrimage to the revered Shri Amarnathji Holy Cave has witnessed a surge in pilgrim numbers, with 17,202 devotees paying their obeisance on Thursday. As a result, the cumulative total of pilgrims has reached an impressive 84,768 on the seventh day of the yatra.
Among the pilgrims who visited the Holy Cave, there were 12,408 men, 4,095 women, 490 children, 192 sadhus, and 17 sadhvis, demonstrating the diverse participation in this religious journey.
The consistent rise in the number of yatris each day has made the Amarnath Yatra one of the most successful and highly attended pilgrimages in the country.
To ensure seamless management of the yatra, the entire operation is being closely monitored from the state-of-the-art Integrated Command & Control Centre (ICCC) at HMT, which has been in use for the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra since 2022.
The ICCC at HMT is equipped with advanced Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology, enabling real-time monitoring and remote control of the yatra. All departments involved in the pilgrimage utilize the ICCC to communicate with their field staff, promptly addressing the needs of the pilgrims.
The integration of RFID technology with the ICCC enables efficient crowd control management, traceability, traffic jam avoidance, and comprehensive coordination among all stakeholders on a real-time basis. This integration represents a significant advancement in data science and supports effective operations management in exceptional scenarios, such as disaster mitigation.
An official at the ICCC emphasized the benefits of RFID integration, stating that data analysis and simulation models play a crucial role in disaster mitigation and facilitate preemptive actions.
