Kulgam, June 28: A team of doctors performed a major complex spine surgery at a periphery hospital in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Wednesday.
The complex spine surgery was successfully conducted by the Orthopaedics Department of District Hospital (DH) Kulgam on a 30-year-old male patient.
According to an official, the patient was a carpenter who had a spine injury after falling from a height.
“The patient suffered an L1 bust fracture with bony fragments compressing the spinal cord. The L1 decompression was done with the D12 – L2 instrumental stabilisation,” he said adding that the patient is doing well post-surgery and recuperating.
He said, with the logistic support from Medical Superintendent, Dr Gulzar Ahmad, Dr Towseef Ahmad Bhat, Consultant Orthopedic conducted the surgery, with assistance from Dr Aabid Hussain and Dr Khursheed Ahmad.
He said the team of doctors from Anesthesia included Dr Anees, Dr Nuzhat and Dr Shafkat and support staff included Gh Mohi U Din, Imtiyaz Ahmad, Shabir Ahmad Shah, Farooq Ahmad, Farooq Ahmad (C arm technician). The team of doctors also received appreciation from the Deputy Commissioner, Kulgam.
