Budgam, May 04: Ahead of the G20 Summit, the roads and buildings department has started the upgradation work of the 27 kilometres long Narbal-Gulmarg Road.
An official from the Roads and Buildings Department told Rising Kashmir that under this upgradation work, all the road stretches that have been damaged on the Narbal-Gulmarg road up to the Baba Reshi junction will be fully repaired and macadmised.
He said that the shoulders on both sides of the roads will be fully developed so that people can also walk by foot. “Paved shoulders help prolong the life of the bitumen surface and serve as lay-by for parked vehicles to ensure the full functionality and utility of the carriageway to its design capacity. There will also be maintenance of the centre verge of the road,” he said.
“There will also be proper road marking, sign boards, and road delineators. All the bridges that are coming upon the Narbal-Gulmarg road will also be painted,” he said and adding that they are going to develop the footpaths upon the Mazhuma railway bridge on both sides, through which commuters can walk through both sides of the bridge.
