JK political parties, leaders grieved over demise of Prof Rehman Rahi

Srinagar, Jan 09: Several political parties and senior leaders from across the national and regional political parties has expressed grief over the demise of noted poet and  Gayanpeth awardee Prof Rehman Rahi.
Rahi passed away on Monday at the age of 98.
          The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President and MP from Srinagar Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Vice President Omar Abdullah also expressed profound grief over the demise of the exponent of Kashmiri language, noted progressive poet and lyricist Prof. Abdur Rehman Rahi.
          Condoling Prof. Rehman Rahi’s demise, Dr. Farooq said, “I am extremely pained to know about the passing away of Prof Rahi Sahib. He was a living validation of Kashmir’s cultural standing and literary genius. The Kashmiri poetic scene has been impoverished today. My heartfelt condolences and sympathies are with the bereaved family of his. I pray for peace to the departed soul in the highest echelons of Jannat.”
          In his condolence message, Omar Abdullah said, “I am deeply saddened by the demise of legendary Kashmiri poet and lyricist Rahman Rahi. He will be remembered for his pre-eminent contribution as a poet and as a critic enriching Kashmiri language and literature in a profound manner. With his memorable poetry, he has left an indelible mark on the hearts of people. Today the literary world has suffered a great loss”.
The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) expressed profound grief over the passing away of Prof. Rehman Rahi and extended deepest condolences to his family, friends and followers.
          In a condolence message, J&K Pradesh Congress termed the passing away of Prof. Rehman Rahi an irreparable loss which could not be replaced by anything. “J&K has lost a great scholar, an illustrious son and poet of Kashmir language in the passing away of Prof.Rahi,” they said in the statement. “Pradesh Congress Committee deeply mourns the passing of a great scholar and says the services rendered by him to society shall always be remembered and admired”.
In his condolence message, Apni Party chief Altaf Bukhari also expressed profound grief and sorrow over the demise of Prof Rehman Rahi. “I am deeply saddened over the death of Rahi Sahib. He was a son of the soil whose presence was a blessing to Kashmir’s society. Rahi Sahib’s death has left a void that cannot be filled. I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family.”
Party’s Senior Vice-President Ghulam Hassan Mir, while expressing his grief over the death of Rahi, said, “He was a legend, who will always be remembered for his unprecedented contribution to Kashmir’s literature and culture. Rahi Sahib spent his entire life serving people in terms of infusing intelligence and wisdom into society through his work. Also, he has mentored thousands of students during his lifetime. May Almighty Allah rest the noble soul in eternal peace.”
Chairman JK Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) and former Minister, Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen also condoled the demise of Prof Rehman Rahi.
     Hakeem while condoling demise of Rehman Rehi, described his demise a big loss to the literary world especially Kashmiri art, language and literature. He said his demise has created a void in the world of kashmiri literature which could not be filled for long.
     Hakeem Yaseen has expressed heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul.
Former J&K Pradesh Congress Committee President Ghulam Ahmad expressed deep sorrow over the passing away of Prof.Rehman Rahi and extended deepest condolences to his family, friends and followers.
Former J&K Pradesh Congress Committee President GA Mir termed the passing away of Prof. Rahi an irreparable loss to people of J&K and said they have lost a great scholar, an illustrious son and prominent poet of Kashmir language.
          In a statement issued to Rising Kashmir, Mir said, “I have no words to express my grief on the passing away of Prof. Rehman Rahi. He has greatly contributed to society through his pen and vast knowledge on Kashmiri culture and literature.
Former JKPCC President extended deepest condolences to family, friends and relatives of Prof. Rehman Rahi and prayed for his eternal peace.
