Anantnag, Apr 10: The doctors and paramedics at the Sub-District Hospital (SDH) in Bijbehara, in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, remained on their toes on the festive day of Eid Ul Fitr. Despite the celebrations, the hospital conducted many emergency Lower segment Cesarian section (LSCS) surgeries on Wednesday, officials said.
The hospital authorities received appreciation from the Secretary Health, Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, Director Health Services Kashmir, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Anantnag M Y Zagoo, and other officers.
Medical Superintendent (MS), SDH Bijbehara, told Rising Kashmir that the hospital maintained a full staff complement during the festival of Eid to ensure uninterrupted patient care.
“The doctors and paramedic staff performed many emergency LSCS, normal deliveries, and the mothers successfully delivered the babies. Despite the festive occasion, we stationed the necessary staff in the hospital including all consultants, doctors and paramedics. While everyone desires to celebrate Eid with their families, our dedicated staff prioritize patient care over personal time,” he said, adding that he salutes to all them.
He said that the uniqueness of the situation is that the emergency surgeries were performed on Eid day, precisely some of them during the time of Eid Ul Fitr prayers in the morning.
Meanwhile, Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, Secretary of Health and Medical Education in J&K, posted on the microblogging site X (formerly Twitter) and said that, “It takes conviction & strength to place duty before self. On festival days when most spend it with family & friends, there are doctors & paramedics who spend it on duty, in the care of patients,” he said.
“To all those who are on duty today, like on many other festival days, you are our heroes,” Secretary Health added.
