Udhampur, Sep 18: Apni Trade Union, J&K President, Ajaz Kazmi has demanded regularisation of the daily wagers who have been serving in various government departments for the last more than two decades.
Addressing a meeting cum joining programme in Udhampur; Kazmi said it was a matter of great concern for the daily wagers who served in departments during the difficult times and were retired without the benefits of the government schemes.
“Their constitutional rights were violated by the government at the behest of some of the bureaucrats who do not want the regularisation of the daily wagers. Over 62,000 daily wagers have been working in government departments and they kept the system running even during Covid-19,” he said.
Kazmi also referred to the issues of transporters, businessmen, and unemployed youth in Jammu and Kashmir who “informed me that the unemployment and underdevelopment have increased in Udhampur”. “The claims of development in Udhampur and its villages seem false as ground reality is opposite to what is being projected. As far as employment is concerned, the educated youth are compelled to do labour work to earn their livelihood,” he said.
The Apni Party leader highlighted the issues of the businessmen and traders while asking the government to address the concerns of the concerned people. He demanded that the formalities for the old age pension should be eased so that the left-out old age pensioners can be given the benefit of the scheme. “These old age pensioners have to stand in queue at the age when they are supposed to take rest. Many of them have multiple serious illnesses. Therefore, the adamant attitude of the authorities should change formalities and ease the system in favour of old age pensioners in J&K,” he added.
On the occasion, Sat Pal Chalotra, and Vijay Sharma also addressed the meeting and highlighted various issues in Udhampur. District President, Udhampur Youth Wing of Apni Party, Ajit Sharma was also present on the occasion.
Raghav Sharma, Abishak Anthal, Anil Sharma, Rohit Rajput, Kishore Singh, Surab Kumar, Jagdish Kumar, Askar Ali, Pawan Sharma, Ravi Kumar, Fayaz Ali, and others joined Apni Trade Union, while expressing their faith in the party leadership, the party said in a statement.
Ajaz Kazmi welcomed them into the party fold, and hoped that their joining would strengthen the party at the grassroots level, the statement said.
